Create a Backup

Please consider the following!

Backups are a Best Effort Policy and is not guaranteed. Backup space is limited to a maximum of 400GB. A maximum of 5 retentions is allowed

Within EduCloud, it is possible to create backups of your instances.
Before a backup can be created, the instance needs to be assigned to an available backup offering.

Once an instance has been assigned to a backup offering, a backup can be created on demand, or a backup schedule can be configured.

Assign Instance to Backup Offering

To assign an instance to a backup offering:

From the left menu, choose Compute > Instance.
Select the vertical ellipsis (three vertical dots) and choose the
“assign-instance-to-backup-offering” icon.

Add the available offering

Once the policy has been added, you are ready to create a backup.

Backup Creation

You can create a manual backup.

From the left menu, choose Compute > Instance.
Select the vertical ellipsis (three vertical dots) and choose the
“Start backup” icon.

Give your backup job a name and description.

when done you can start the backup.

Backup Progress

You can monitor your backups and their progress under the Backup tab.
From the left menu, choose Storage > Backups.

Configure Backup Schedule

Instead of creating manual backups, using a backup schedule is recommended.

From the left menu, choose Compute > Instance.
Select the vertical ellipsis (three vertical dots) and choose the
Configure Backup Schedule icon.

  • Time: Choose the time to perform the backup.
  • Keep: Specify the maximum number of backups to retain.
  • Timezone: Select your timezone.

Remove Scheduled Backups

If a backup schedule is no longer needed, you can remove it.

From the left menu, choose Compute > Instance.
Select the vertical ellipsis (three vertical dots) and choose the
Configure Backup Schedule icon.

Select the Scheduled Backups tab and click the delete action.
