Restore from Backup

Important: At the time of writing, a restore bug is present. Because of this, it is possible that the restore may not be successful. If this happens, please create a ticket at https://fhict.topdesk.net so we can assist you with restoring the instance.

From the EduCloud portal, instances can be restored in several ways.

Restore Instance Backup

To restore an instance from a backup:

Note: Before an instance can be restored, it must be stopped from the EduCloud portal.

From the left menu, choose Storage > Backups.
Select the vertical ellipsis (three vertical dots) and choose the
"Restore Instance Backup" icon.

Confirm the "Restore Instance Backup" action.

Create New Instance From Backup

It is also possible to create a new instance from a backup so your original Instance will not be overwritten.

From the left menu, choose Storage > Backups.
Select the vertical ellipsis (three vertical dots) and choose the
"Create new Instance from backup" icon.

(Important) Click on configure to edit the parameters for the new Instance before creation.

When configuring the instance, you can adjust the template and compute offering. The disk offering needs to be the same size or larger than the original. When done, give the instance a name and click the Create button.
